LTP - unfortunately you did not quote the appropriate person... =/ Just wanted to put that out there... Everything you quoted me as saying - Gray said.

You'd be better off using the robber barons to extort other dynasty buildings. It's like a completely broken method of 'protection' from the mercenaries... except only one guy per building and a LOT more cash.

The catch? I noticed when they fail - they like to burgle the place (not a great idea considering there is almost always a guard watching.... unless you have coquettes) ;)

I think I have made upwards of $150,000 a round - while paying for all the automation fees on all of my businesses. :mdr:

    *bump*

Let's get some of the other regular community members commenting on this. I know that Runeforge - as ANY developer of ANY video game must do - will eventually have to sever support ties to a game that is draining it's resources. Agreed, TG2:R was the game that launched Runeforge; but they need to consolidate their manpower (as little as they have) in order to be successful in future endeavours. I, for one, would rather see the studio succeed and possibly change the way we game a few years from now - rather than see continuous support for TG2:R.

Maybe a few years down the road they can purchase full-licensing rights of the franchise and release a TG3... or maybe Project 'X' will take off and end up more successful - who knows...

But I am certain Nirvana agrees that we need the community to comment on any major content is released in order to see if we're in agreement as to what will allow TG2:R be 'wrapped-up' (for now) so they can pursue other endeavours with the knowledge that they will still have the solid fan-base.

(pardon the rant.... just the forums have been quiet for about two weeks now and I don't like how that is looking...) :frown:

Honestly, I agree Nirvana... of all the suggestions I've seen on the forums - this would be the most useful. Anything else you could leave the fans work on... lmao... Maybe that could be a Runeforge Jr. in the making? :oh:

In all seriousness though... cold, hard cash... how much? Don't worry, it'll be Euros... not dollars...

For some reason I seem to remember this bug already being addressed and/or fixed. I am currently playing TG2:R on the 4.17 BETA version.

It was the bug where if you start a new game and exit back to main menu, when you start a new game all the 'dropdown menus' look like double parentheses. ][

Just reporting that it is still happening.

And to the two posters above me - the flaming of another post AND the pointing out of the flaming of another post are BOTH unnecessary - if you see a flame, leave the mods put it out. They are trained professionals.

Hmm, did you try to duel some turns in a row? Like 3 or 4? ^^

I'm going to have to try that out, but when I had a max rogue (usually obtained via marriage and maxed strictly through buying titles and scolding cocquette's) duels would be one-sided.... especially with duelling gloves, d'artagnan's scent AND that other item that helps out. That was a few patches ago though - I have yet to play thoroughly through a 'hard' game on the current patch.

BTW don't ever start using robbers to extort, it is so much like cheating that it'll ruin your game :(

Yea, I also try to restrict myself to only dueling within the same guild. It's unfair for a lvl 9 rogue with max MA, Dex, and Con to go after a Scholar with Rhet and Handi.... lol

Pardon the off-topic post - just a challenge idea for those that don't like breaking this amazing game by 'cheating'.

Not only that, but it changes how rampant the plague will be (to my understanding of recent updates).

I think it also has an effect on the market, not too certain on that.

I've also seen somewhere in the code that the AI Dynasties (the real ones) will start off with more children, more established with a family tree started. I could be wrong on this, but I only play on hard and one year a turn. I notice a population boom in turn #12-14 with AI dynasties, suggesting those kids were born before the game started. I could be wrong here, but it is what I have noticed in my games.

.... I guess I'm the only one that never bothered to look up the fix for the intro scenes. I am running the beta patch, but I have never been able to get them working previously. I am running windows 7 64x. Not a major issue, I just figured I would throw it out there seeing as you two seem to have the intros working... lol

Avoid translator bots, and if you do use one... follow proper etiquette. You did that though, so good on ya. (post what you mean in English underneath so they can translate what they know, if any...)

I am Canadian, and unfortunately had the displeasure of learning French on school. I can still read it, and speak some of it... however I can't write it for the life of me. The spelling usually throws me off every now and then, but when I tried a few translators that a few buddies of mine use - I noticed immediate flaws with the translations with just my elementary knowledge of French.

That being said, following the typical etiquette of copy/pasting the English underneath too - you should be fine. As for knowing whats going on with the German side of things, Nirvana is active on those forums as well from what I have seen. He won't leave us in the dark if there is anything we need to know about.... At least I don't think he would.... although I still don't know where that moderator went either.... :arf:

Lol, it's all good. I made that mistake when I first played too. Then I got G2 and played the tutorial... that thing saved my ass with this game. I still can't get over how I have never bothered to play this series until a few months ago... It's one of the best games out there. With Nirvana and the team, it'll only get better.

Thank you for the thanks, Jack Arbiter. Yea, I figured salacious service was a stretch to add. I'll have to start with a tavern rogue next game, and not mis-click to thief's service if that was the case.

General Chaos, I could have been wrong on that one also. The only Alchemist I made was pre-patching on G2R. I was a guild noob back then and probably did it in front of a guard or bailiff. And yea, writing that list made me appreciate the Guild 2 *that* much more.

    edit: random typo's.

    shot2bits Re: Feedback Patch 4.17b
i hadnt played for a while and this is the first beta patch ive tried, it seemed to install properly as it had the proper version number on the main menu. everything seemed to be running fine but i eventually realised my characters xp was stuck and i couldnt level at all, it seemed to accumulate above the stats in the dynasty menu (i had 1300 or so xp at this point) but the xp counter in the portrait in the same menu said 500/1100 and 0/1100 xp for his wife, even thought the one above her stats had about 600, i tried restarting on a different map and i had the same problem, the main character started with 500/1100 xp but wouldnt go up no matter how much xp i gained

this isnt from a fresh install, so ill reinstall and apply the patch again to see if it fixes it

^^^ Sorry if the above quote fails, I never use that feature on forums and am a bit of a forum-newb.

shot2bits; in order for a character to level-up, you must spend the XP earned on the attributes on the main dynasty screen. You must have the dynasty character's box selected (on the top right of the game screen) that you want to improve their attributes.

There should be a series of stats like:
    -Constition
    -Dexterity
    -Charisma
    -Martial Arts
    etc.etc.etc.

Click the little '+' sign to the right of the respective stat when it is lit up. Eventually you will level up and at levels 2,4,7 (and a few others) you can select perk's to improve your character's specific role that you use them for. IE: sneaky fighter (gives 5% chance of doing a critical hit which hits for an extra 50%) I believe...

    Hopefully this helps you out!

Well, I don't know about you guys, but I noticed that when I smacked the Bishop down in front of his mother they both got very angry and the guards made swift work of my thieves in the market.... silly mis-click cost me 4 lvl 5 pickpockets... in chain w/ short-swords. :(

On a serious note though, road tolls are NEVER going to make people happy with you. However, later on... when you get the halberd improvement on your Mercenary Castle (or Fortress?) you can offer protection to any family that has a feud. (different then extorting with bandits) If you select multiple mercenaries you can assign upwards of 5 merc's to one place at 500 gold per rank of the building. I've found that if you do this with someone that has a feud with you, it will default your relationship back up to neutral. It may improve it if your merc's prevent a sabotage or burglary attempt. However, extorting with Bandits will obviously cause an adverse effect to this (despite the profit!)

    List of 'hateful' things:
    -bombs
    -firebombs
    -poisoning wells (if caught)
-failed bribes (attempting to bribe a righteous person, basically)
-assaults (if you flee, sometimes they won't count as evidence... if it doesn't it will cause less hate)
-battery (breaking the downed dynasty members bones)
-robbery (stealing from downed dynasty member)
-libel (as opposed to 'praise' during a sermon)
    -defamation of character (bulletins)
    -character assassination (town crier)
-Waylaying (the owner of the cart's dynasty)
-Collecting hush-money (I think, I haven't experimented with this one yet... usually I end up murdering any rogues I see so they don't last long enough for me to experiment)
-insulting (however usually the issue is cleared if a duel is provoked)
    -torturing/breaking will (obvious reason)
    -capturing buildings
    -tolls
-being of ill-repute (IE: Walking Nightmare)
    -competing in politics
    -murder
-divorce will lower favour with the shadow dynasty character and any family they may have
-salacious service (not too sure on this one, but when the guards decided to randomly slap my girls around in the town square, I concluded this is considered a 'negative' action... I could have hit theif service instead though...) this game tends to rob sleep from you and cause you to make silly mistakes sometimes.
    -thief service if caught
    -pick-pocketing if caught
    -kidnapping

.... Essentially anything that is a detriment to another Dynasty and/or creates evidence.

If you'll really bent on being a rogue to start, the only real 'legit' way to make money is vagabonds or a tavern... however do not use salacious service or thief service with the tavern. (better off with vagabonds)

Pardon the rant. I think that's about as comprehensive of a list you can ask for... don't know if you were looking for more details. This is all based on what I have noticed in game play... I could be wrong as far as the actual mechanics of the game work on some actions... (I honestly don't know about salacious service)

As to the Beta patch and thieves staying and fighting it out - the only way for them to patch the weird "Player employee controlled by AI auto-attack target<hostile>, after running around in 20 circles" script was to cause all employees to choose to stand and fight more often via making a more direct targeting script.

TL;DR - If it has a negative impact on anyone in the community of any kind, odds are it will lower favour. Nothing male/female double perfume attack at both Cath. and Prot. masses as well is market and city center won't fix up though.

Alright, well... I'll try to post without getting "you-know-who's" panties bunched up....

I think the AI aggression level has been addressed in another forum at some point. There are values in the .LUA files you can tweak yourself that are for 'mission difficulty' and 'dynasty difficulty'. So that is a minor fix that should sate your thirst for fire and streets running red with the crimson blood of your enemies, Msjlenaginegal however your 'big boy' name is spelled.

Now, onto the real matter. The AI really is poor in general (at no fault of the producers... they are working off of old code and a system that they didn't really make so are re-discovering everything that has been put in) Coding takes time - especially when the only real methods of undertaking this task are trial and error because they have to reverse engineer. [I could be wrong here, but I think that's what tends to happen when video game companies go bankrupt] Keep in mind, it's FANS that set this game up... and they've done a hell of a job.

I honestly think the reason the AI isn't aggressive is it doesn't have the assets to really be aggressive. non-dynasty NPC's (ndNPC) tend to be less aggressive because they aren't overly "ambitious." Fair enough. Dynasty characters aren't because they never make it into a position where they can afford to be. Why would they fire-bomb your home if they could just as easily be charged with sabotage and sent to the pillory? They lack the assets management in order to be able to make a significant amount of wealth to buy titles which bring the power to allow them to conduct crimes/sabotages without repercussions. I think the 'aggressive' issue is a minor detail and not the focus point.

TL;DR - aggression means nothing if the NPC's have nothing to fight for.

I got it after 25 turns on 1 year per.... Although I guess that is a subtantially longer game then I have ever played before the patch. I always play on Hardest. I had too much on the go on that game and started a new one - a little more specialised... hoping to establish a hopsital in/near each city and have 25 pain medication in stock before it hits.... I'll probably try AI managing and setting up a store house so it doesn't get cured too fast ;) :666:

I've only recently discovered this hidden gem of a game. I remember years ago looking at the original "The Guild" game box and wondering if I should buy it... I should have then.

Anyways, onto the consolidated bug lists... I have started a large amount of games, got wiped by the plague... blah blah blah.. discovered there *were* patches (thanks, Impulse, for not telling me...) :grrrrrr:

So, onwards to the bugs that haven't been fixed. I always play as a Scholar to start, simply because it's the easiest to get into office early.

-I've noticed that there is no mention of the 'perma-pause' bug. If you pause the game via the Esc key for an extended period of time, and come back... the game will be stuck on pause and unable to be played. If you save the game, exit to windows, and reload... it's usually fixed.

-Most NPC's assigned to 'production' gain no XP. XP tends to only be gained via the special commands associated with the business. Some business have no special commands (almost every crastman business)

-as a Scholar, married a craftswoman/tradeswoman... bought a weaving mill and upgraded it to a clothing shop. I was hoping for more profit off of higher tier product, but even as an imperial city it would seem that most of the "noble's clothes" and the like are a waste of money to produce ( I actually would lose 300 gold per) - most likely related to the AI's terrible management of stock - which cripples their ability to acquire any real wealth.

-Certain items are completely useless to produce (purses, copper coins... sale value is far lower than base price)

-Gain believers worked amazingly before the recent patch. After the patch, and a few turns into the game... no matter where I click - the NPC and/or PC will always go to a different, random spot in town. usually right beside the harbours (where there is obviously no foot traffic)

-Guards still randomly murder people, I suspect that's related to the guard commander's disposition to the victim... if so, it's not a bug

-AI hoards various items for no particular reason. I've seen as many as 180 fittings sitting in one smithy on the sales stock tab.

Pardon the rant and any repetition... it's late and this game has taken away a lot of my time for sleep... lol - it really is an amazing game, even with the bugs.

(Sorry if this is the wrong place to post... there are at least 6 or so forums on the go for this game, and countless bug threads)

Thank you, runeforge team, for all your efforts on this game...
