• So last night my only character (still in the early game) contracted the plague. I immediately sent him to the Infirmery (not my building), but the place was packed and he never got through to a doctor but died (along with many others) while waiting for treatment on the bench (for more than a full turn).

It seems to me the 'Consult Medicus' (forgot the actual name) action automatically cancels once in a while and the character looses his place in the line and thus never gets treated. Is there a way around this?

Do diseases actually spread realistically in the game? I was thinking: Could I send my employeees carrying the plague to my worst enemies, thus infecting and eventually killing them?

Likewise, would my character be safe from harm if he stayed at home while the plague was rampaging through the city?

    Which patch du you use?

    Yes, that's possible.

That's also true, although I doubt that there's a 100% chance for savety in your home ^^

Sorry, this is 4.15 (standard Steam).

Interresting - I might just have found my favorite weapon :)

Still, it was a rather abrupt end to the game, and happened very early. Next time I hear about the plague I'm going to isolate my characteres, then use my employees as medieval suicide bombers

  • Innocence: You said Infirmery above. You used this word by mistake in the post, or it was actually in the game an infirmery?

Pain medication which is used to treat the plague, can be made only in the hospital. So if indeed in the game there was no hospital, then the plague could not be treated. So maybe it was not due to long waiting, but to lack of treatment.

Check that too if you have saved your game :)

nirvana: That's not a change (in the beta patches), that's elimination of the plague :P

Damn, just deleted the save games in preparation to patch with the beta patches so I can't recheck.

Would my character go a place where they're not actually able to cure him?

    Zitat

nirvana: That's not a change (in the beta patches), that's elimination of the plague :P

Is this true? I mean, it's not like I want it gone from the game, I was just a little shocked everyone died to early in the game

  • "Would my character go a place where they're not actually able to cure him?"

Well, no, it shouldn't, but there was such a bug in 4.15, which is fixed in one of the beta patches. So in 4.15, the character would have gone to be treated anyway if the bug existed.
(you can see the list of the bug fixes in the beta patches)

As for the elimination, I was teasing Nirvana. :)

Though to be truthful, in all the beta patches I have played (up to .165), I have not seen plague. Other people though, have seen plague in the beta patches.

I liked the plague, he he. I made a fortune in 4.15 with the plague and I enjoyed very much the challenge to beat it. And I did. ;)

  • I got it after 25 turns on 1 year per.... Although I guess that is a subtantially longer game then I have ever played before the patch. I always play on Hardest. I had too much on the go on that game and started a new one - a little more specialised... hoping to establish a hopsital in/near each city and have 25 pain medication in stock before it hits.... I'll probably try AI managing and setting up a store house so it doesn't get cured too fast ;) :666:
