Endlich heiße Infos aus erster Hand!
Alles anzeigenHallo zusammen,

Alles anzeigenHello guys,
for a long time I was just little present in the forum. Mainly because we all worked hard for the Gamescom. I try to say something on many of the topics and questions here in the forum:
Long development time: Even The Guild 1 and The Guild 2 had more or less the same development time. But both games came out too early and they needed a lot of patches. THQ Nordic will invest more money for additionnel dev time (planned release: Q2 2018) in order to have the game as free of bugs as possible. The Guild is a non-linear game and every feature influences a lot of other features and that might lead to bugs - but the non-linear gameplay is what makes this game so unique.
I don't write this here in order to excuse the long development time. I just ask you to understand that a game like The Guild is a lot more complex and bug prone than other games. Looking back, we might have announced the start of the development of The Guild 3 one year too early, but that hadn't changed the overall development time.
Regarding the version at Gamescom 2017: the two large maps in the GC version caused lags, especially when players zoomed out. This is not excusable and GolemLabs will fix that until the Early Access starts (in worst case with one of the early patches during EA). But reports of bad pathfinding are not true. Instead, players may have noticed that there are some problems with the collision of characters (characters are pushed away or they block streets for some time) and character stay in market booths (entry points have to be replaced). This is not excusable either and will be fixed soon.
We have a lot more things to work on. The robber, the thief and the medicus for example, which are playable but far away from being balanced... And carts and riding horses are much too cheap, while fittings are much too profitable. And when I compliment another character, there are problems with the conversation and the animations. But all these are "normal bugs" in the current state of development. In one of the threads in the German board I wrote the following:
Our booth personnel told me, regarding the stability, that we had just 3 crashes all over the six days of Gamescom (with six computers, so 0.5 crashes per computer in 6 days [Blockierte Grafik: http://forum.nordicgames.at/images/smilies/smile.gif] )! I addition we have some issues with the multiplayer. The "out-of-sync" bug from The Guild 2 - by the way the most asked question of all trade shows and conventions - is no more present... you may notice this bug just as a Steam achievement if you have played for a specific time in multiplayer (if nothing went worse with mp until then...). That means: the mp mode is sadly not running smoothly so far, but it is more stable than the mp mode in TG2 with the latest patch. GolemLabs uses not the same system for multiplayer as we used in TG2. We still have crashes and freezes in our test games, but no more OOS's ...
And let me mention that, on the basis of the feedback of our testers, we decided in late spring this year to completely change the user interface. Players at Gamescom noticed a mix of new interface and old menus. We finalize this asap.
This - and additional work on textures, models and engine - is one of the reasons why we haven't shown video material so far. This is annoying for us as well and my collegues from PR started to become angry... we are close to have that done. When those works are done, we will show you videos.
Last but not least, let me tell you something regarding Early Access: the EA via Steam and GOG should give fans the opportunity to help us with their feedback for the last months of development. The EA is not needed to finance the next months of development. I have no more details regarding the Early Access so far, but I mean this seriously!
A possible Early Access led to discussions earlier. There were voices in favour and voices against EA, and both sides were heared. The decision was made and that don't mean that we use fans as some kind of beta-tester. No one has to take part in the Early Access and everyone is free to wait until the game is finally released. I am a gamer as well and when there is a game in EA I consider for myself whether it is worth to take part in their Early Access and help them finalizing their game or not. No offense [Blockierte Grafik: http://forum.nordicgames.at/images/smilies/smile.gif]
I will do my very best to be more present in the forum and to give you more information.
Take care
